eHuddles Leaders

Teaching Your eHuddle Well

eHuddles at Encounter Atlanta are designed to foster spiritual growth and authentic community. As a leader, you play a vital role in guiding discussions and encouraging discipleship. This page provides the resources you need to lead with confidence and impact.

Facilitator Tips

Your role is to create a welcoming, Christ-centered space where every participant feels heard and valued. Keep these principles at the center of how you lead.

Pro Tip: The best facilitation happens when your group forgets you’re “leading.” Create space, not performance.

1. Prioritize building authentic relationships before diving into content
2. Open each session with a genuine check-in — people engage more when they feel known
3. Remember details from past conversations and reference them naturally

1. Mix lighthearted icebreakers with meaningful teaching
2. When people enjoy showing up, consistency follows naturally
3. Rotate creative elements — try a new opening question, an activity, or a group challenge

1. Model attentive listening when participants share their thoughts
2. Reflect back key points to show understanding and guide deeper discussion
3. Resist the urge to “fix” — sometimes people just need to be heard

1. Make sure all voices are heard — gently draw in quieter participants
2. Ensure no single person dominates the conversation
3. Tailor discussions to resonate across different backgrounds and experiences

1. Be flexible with your plan — if the group gravitates toward a topic, follow that lead
2. If energy drops, shift gears with a new question or activity
3. Be mindful of time while maintaining a balanced pace for discussion and reflection

1. Recognize birthdays, celebrate wins, and give shoutouts
2. Small moments of recognition build lasting community
3. Every interaction should feel personal, not transactional

eHuddle Session Prep

Great sessions start long before the meeting begins. Use this preparation guide starting 1–2 weeks before your eHuddle to ensure you’re spiritually and practically ready to lead.

Pro Tip: Preparation isn’t just academic — it’s spiritual. The more time you spend in the Word before leading, the more naturally the teaching will flow.

1. Begin your preparation in prayer — ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, clarity, and discernment
2. Set aside quiet, focused time to allow God to unfold the scripture to you
3. Pray specifically for each member of your group by name
4. Return to prayer throughout your preparation, not just at the start

1. Study the history of the scripture — who wrote it, who it was written to, and what was happening at the time
2. Research what the Bible says about the topic across multiple passages — don’t rely on a single verse in isolation
3. Understand proper hermeneutics — interpret the Word accurately, in context, and with theological integrity
4. Go beyond surface-level reading — use commentaries, cross-references, and original language tools

1. Start at least 1–2 weeks before the session — don’t rush the process
2. Give yourself time to sit with the material, revisit it, and let the Holy Spirit refine your understanding
3. Prepare clear talking points, but stay open to where the Spirit leads during the session
4. Set aside quiet time for focus — minimize distractions so you can hear from God

1. Meet with your co-leaders at least 2–3 times before the lesson
2. Walk through the content together and discuss the teaching approach
3. Align on discussion questions, activities, and how the session will flow
4. Ensure everyone on the team is prepared and on the same page

Sample Session Guide

Use this 60-minute framework as a starting point for structuring your eHuddle. Adapt the timing and activities to fit your group’s needs.

Pro Tip: Don’t feel locked into exact times. If the Spirit is moving during discussion, let it breathe. The guide is a framework, not a script.

1. Introduce yourself if new members are present
2. Set the tone — explain the purpose and expectations for the session
3. Open with an icebreaker to build connection
4. Example: “Share one thing you do every day to take care of yourself”

1. Read the session’s scripture passage aloud
2. Introduce the topic and share the session’s objective
3. Select scriptures that align with your topic to anchor the discussion
4. Give brief context for the passage — who, what, when, and why it matters today

1. Ground your teaching in biblical theology — present the passage and what God is communicating
2. Biblical context: Provide historical and literary context — who wrote it, to whom, and why
3. Life application: Help participants connect scripture to their real-world circumstances
4. Key takeaways: Identify 2–3 clear takeaways from the biblical lesson
5. Move from introductory questions → deeper exploration → personal reflection and application

1. Engage participants with a hands-on exercise tied to the lesson
2. Options: small-group breakout, role-play, creative prompt, or guided reflection
3. Use tools like polls, shared docs, or breakout rooms for virtual sessions
4. This is where learning becomes experience — make it participatory

1. Summarize 2–3 key takeaways from the session
2. Practice: Give a specific action to try during the week
3. Reflect: Ask participants to journal or prepare to share next session
4. Share any additional resources — articles, videos, or recordings

After Your eHuddle

What you do after the session matters just as much as the session itself. Use this checklist to close the loop and keep your group connected.

Pro Tip: Poll your group to find out which platform they already use most. Meet them where they are — the tool matters less than the consistency.

1. Take 5 minutes after each session to reflect while it’s fresh
2. What went well? — Note moments of engagement, breakthrough, or connection
3. What could be improved? — Identify pacing issues, unclear questions, or disengagement points
4. Keep a running log — this sharpens your facilitation over time

1. Choose a communication channel — group text, WhatsApp, or GroupMe
2. Share encouragement, prayer requests, session reminders, and follow-up resources
3. Post a midweek check-in or discussion prompt to keep the conversation alive
4. Encourage members to share with each other, not just respond to you

1. Check in individually with anyone who missed a session or seemed to be going through something
2. A quick text or call goes a long way in making people feel seen
3. Don’t only reach out around events — the most impactful contacts happen when nothing is “happening”

1. Keep track of testimonies, breakthroughs, and group milestones
2. Share these with leadership and celebrate them publicly with your group
3. Baptisms, answered prayers, new sign-ups — acknowledge and celebrate them

1. Remember that every follow-up touchpoint is a discipleship moment
2. Stay anchored in the purpose — helping people grow in their journey with Christ
3. Engagement is the vehicle, not the destination
